The 2020-21 Annual Fund Drive is Under Way! - Please HELP FVFC HELP You!
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Our hopes for a return to “normal” in 2021 have been stalled as COVID-19 canceled many of our fundraisers this year. We believe it remains necessary to protect the most vulnerable in our community, our children and senior adults, by canceling indoor events including some dinners, the Easter Bunny Breakfast, Bingo and others. Sadly, be have also made the difficult decision to cancel the Supper with Santa indoor event, but we will repeat the Santa Drive-By again this year. We hope that by next year we can bring all of these community favorites back.
I am very happy to say that we had a very successful Fall Fair including a 20th Anniversary of September 11th memorial service. All of you helped make this event successful and I would like to thank each and everyone of you and our generous sponsors for your support. This year’s Fall Fair brought back many fond memories of the annual carnivals we used to host. It was great to see you all here socializing, dining and having some good old fashioned fun. I would like to personally thank all the volunteers from the fire company and community. If it wasn’t for all of you we could not offer such a great event. We are thankful we were also able to hold the annual rabies clinic in early October. This event continues to grow each year bringing much needed vaccines to many pets in need. Thanks goes out to our amazing sponsor North Winds Veterinary Services for their continued support.
On the firefighting side of things, our operating expenses continue to rise, yet our income remains fairly constant year after year. We have been very fortunate to have numerous new members in the past 18 months and these firefighters need to be protected from the elements we experience. A full set of turnout gear costs approximately $2,000.00. We are blessed more people are stepping forward to help as our call volume has also had a significant increase in 2021. We respond to structure , brush and rubbish fires, motor vehicle accidents, rescues, hazardous materials incidents, fire alarms, EMT support and numerous other types of incidents. 2021 also dealt the area a lot of storm damage that kept members busy, some for a few days at a time.
Your community fire company needs financial support.
Every dollar helps us continue to be ready when you need us most.
We are always looking for new volunteers to help your community. Whether as a firefighter,
Junior (14-17), fire police, a social member to support fundraising events or an auxiliary member, YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES!
