Dear Friends and Neighbors,
So far 2022 has continued to challenge us. Finally, things are looking up and we are making plans for fundraisers and other community events. We are very excited to be planning future events, but we are doing this with caution. Our first in-person event for 2002 is planned for April 16th, with the Breakfast with the Easter Bunny followed by the Benton Township Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt. Planning for our fall fair in September is in full swing. Please keep an eye out for other fundraising events and community activities.
The fire company is looking into some building and ground improvements in 2022. We are looking forward to these improvements to our facilities.
Since January many of our firefighters have been busy taking classes. We have had members certified as Emergency Vehicle Operators, others had the opportunity to take a pump class, traffic safety class and we are currently in the middle of Firefighter 1 certification classes. We plan to continue with our training program so we are more prepared to serve our community and surrounding areas.
We are facing some large expenses this year to keep our responders safe. We will be replacing turnout gear that has reached its life expectancy and several of our newer members also need to be equipped for their safety. Each set of turnout gear costs over $2000. In the past year prices on gear and other equipment have increased dramatically. We are also planning to upgrade our communications equipment in 2022. We are purchasing several portable radios so our firefighters that are fighting structure fires and other emergencies have constant communication with the command structure. The purchase of 4 portable radios is approximately $4500.
These upgrades, and those in the future, are ONLY possible with your financial support.
Every dollar helps us continue to be ready when you need us most.
We are always looking for new volunteers to help your community. Whether as an active firefighter, Junior (14-17), fire police, social member to support fundraising events or an auxiliary member, YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES! Join the brother and sisterhood and volunteer some time to your well-deserving community.
Thank you for your continued support!
